2014 Paul Ambrose Graduate School Scholars Program is Accepting Applications
The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) is accepting applications for the 2014 Paul Ambrose Scholars Program (PASP).
The Paul Ambrose Scholars Program exposes health professions students to influential public health professionals and prepares them to be leaders in addressing population health challenges at the national and community level.
This unique program provides mini-grant funds for students to attend a leadership symposium in Washington, DC and to implement a Healthy People 2020 Leading Health Indicators focused project within a student’s community or at their academic institution.
This year’s symposium will be held Friday, June 20th-Sunday, June 22nd. Scholars must be in attendance for the full length of the symposium.

Applicants graduating in 2014 are not eligible for the program.

From Failure to Promise Scholarship Essay Contest
In 2010, Dr. C. Moorer published his ground breaking work, “From Failure to Promise: An Uncommon Path to Professoriate”. The author has told his story to inspire and motivate youth to reach great promise and their fullest potential. Dr. C. Moorer invites high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate-level students with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA to write an original essay. The winning essay will receive a cash prize of $1500 and will be published on the “From Failure to Promise” website.

Frank & Peggy Steele Public Relations Internship Program & Scholarship
The Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Youth Leadership Development provides meaningful, hands-on training in numerous professional careers including research, photo archives, technical services, exhibit design, membership, education, archives and collections management, recorded media, development, special events, programs and events, multi-media, publications, and public relations. In addition, interns learn and work in the company of baseball’s best-known personalities during the annual Hall of Fame Weekend and Induction Ceremony, held in Cooperstown each summer.
To be considered for the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Youth Leadership Development, students must have completed at least their sophomore year and be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university during the internship, or have just graduated in May. All Steele interns receive a bi-weekly stipend during the ten weeks of the program and access to affordable student housing. If fulfilling an academic requirement, college credit may also be awarded.
The Frank & Peggy Steele Internship Program welcomes applicants for the Ozzie Smith Diversity Scholarship. Students of ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds pursuing a four year bachelor’s or master’s degree are eligible for a scholarship. Complete scholarships are awarded following acceptance into Frank & Peggy Steele Internship Program. If interested, please attach a one-page statement of interest with your cover letter and resume.

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship
The Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship Program is designed to help cultivate minority students for potential recruitment in the field of technology. The scholarship amount award depends on the student’s tuition balance, academic excellence and classification.
Applicants must be academic high-achievers with a GPA average of 3.0 or better and must be US citizens or visa-holding Permanent Residents of African American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Hispanic descent.
Applicants must also be enrolled as a full time undergraduate or graduate student in any of the following technical fields: Chemistry, Computing & Software Systems, Information Management,Material Science, Printing Management Science, Laser Optics, Physics, Material Science, and all forms of Engineering – including Software Engineering.
The deadline for this scholarship is SEPTEMBER 30th of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 – $10,000.

Harry L. Jones, Sr. Marks of Excellence Scholarship
If you are a graduate or undergraduate African-American student pursuing a degree in political science, public administration, public policy, community development, urban development, public health or a degree leading to a career in public service, the Southern Piedmont Chapter of NFBPA invites you to apply for the Harry L. Jones, Sr. Marks of Excellence Scholarship. All Harry L. Jones, Sr. Marks of Excellence Scholars will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for one year. The Southern Piedmont Chapter will award the scholarship based on essays responses.
Qualifications
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree in political science, public administration, public policy, community development, urban development, public health or a degree leading to a career in public service. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.
